The Pigeon Coop recently had a visit from Miss Ruby Veridiano-Ching. Ruby is one of those multi-faceted jack-of-all-trades type of people, and a staple in the bay area and nationwide spoken-word scene. She is currently expanding her horizons and moving into the worlds of various visual medias as well as fashion, all while she continues to spit verbal flames and promote her new book with a national tour, Miss Universe, on shelves now. Keep pushing Ruby!

Bird Feed :: NPR interviews Shepard Fairey

Shepard, a long-time staple in the street art / streetwear hustle and the man behind the Obey Giant and the ubiquitous Obama posters, was interviewed recently on Fresh Air. Pretty interesting listen into the background of the Obama imagery, and he discusses some of the controversy around the unauthorized use of the image. This aired before his recent troubles with the Associated Press, and before he was arrested prior to his museum show in Boston. Check the full interview here.

We stopped by Urban Ore in Berkeley today to pick up some materials for a creative project currently in the works. If you have never been there it is basically a thrift store/glorified junkyard, with everything from industrial water-fountains to rows and rows of doorframes to wooden skis from the 40's.
