The Clothes

How do Adapt products fit?

Product descriptions should contain sizing information and measurements. If you have never worn an Adapt product, as a very general rule our Men's garments are a standard cut, much like many contemporary brands in our field. Our Women's products are a bit more fitted, if you are unsure you may want to order one size larger than normal. If you still need sizing assistance on particular items, feel free to EMAIL US.

How should I wash my garment, and do they shrink?

Any tee/sweatshirt containing cotton will shrink somewhat in the dryer. If you want minimal shrinking, as well as to best preserve the graphic, we recommend washing inside out, and hang­drying. If the garment comes out too crispy for your liking, ironing or steaming always works well (do not iron/steam directly on the graphic). For nylon jackets or other non­-cotton materials, consult their specific care labels.

Where are Adapt products made?

Our products are designed at our studios in San Francisco, and are manufactured right here in the USA and Worldwide. The country of origin varies by the particular product, please see your product label for specifics.

Does Adapt make Children’s / Youth products?

Yes we do, and you can check them all out in the Webstore.

Does Adapt make a Slim-Fit Men’s tee?

We do not currently sell a slim fit tee other than our ADVANCE Fitness Tops. However we do hear the requests and there is always a future possibility.

 

The Webstore / Website

Does the Webstore carry every style and product that Adapt sells?

For the most part, yes. There are a couple exceptions however, including our lighter/bottle openers (per U.S. Postal Regulations we cannot ship flammable materials). There may be other products that are no longer available on the Adapt Webstore but that you can still find at our stores or other retailers, such as certain collaborative projects.

Is it safe to shop on the Adapt Website?

We use the Shopify platform, which is an industry leader in backend Website services. We use Paypal and Stripe payment processing solutions which are also industry leaders and are very safe. We have never heard from a customer regarding their information being compromised through use of our site. So, yes we think it is safe to shop with us.

How long does shipping take?

Purchases made in the Shop generally ship within 3 business days of order placement. If you have not received a shipping confirmation email within 7 days, LET US KNOW.

For domestic orders, it averages between 3­-5 business days for your product to arrive from the ship date, although orders shipping within the Bay Area and California often take less time than that. For International orders you can expect about 2-4 weeks.

How much does shipping cost?

The general breakdown for shipping charges is as follows (the United States Postal Service is our primary mail carrier service for both Domestic and International shipments. In some cases we will use UPS as an alternative).

$5 flat rate

International (Non-US):
$25 (0 to 1lbs of merchandise)
$35 (1.1 to 3lbs of merchandise)
$50 (3.1 to 6lbs of merchandise)
$70 (6.1 to 10lbs of merchandise)
$120 (10.1 to 15lbs of merchandise)

*International rates cover postage only, and any additional customs/duty charges that may be incurred are the responsibility of the recipient. International shipments do not always include tracking information.
*In some cases, we are unable to deliver to certain international addresses. If this affects your order we will notify you regarding your available options.

Does Adapt ship to Military installations (APO/FPO, etc.)?

Yes we do. When providing an APO/FPO/AP/AE shipping address with a domestic (U.S.) zip code, our standard domestic rate shipping charges will apply. However for some overseas installations the international shipping rates will apply. See above for shipping rate details.

On my order confirmation I noticed that I put in the wrong shipping address. What should I do?

Since we often ship orders out within 24 hours of order placement, contact us immediately HERE if there is an address issue. Include in the email your order number as well as the updated shipping address. You may be required to reorder, or provide additional information if necessary.

The USPS website shows my package as being delivered, but I didn’t get anything. WTF is going on?

This can sometimes happen when a Postal Employee scans the package but does not actually deliver it. Your goods should arrive within a few days. If you have waited a reasonable number of days and you STILL have not received your items, feel free to EMAIL US.

Can I pick up an order I made online in person?

Yes, you have the option to pick up at our San Leandro facility. Feel free to EMAIL US with specifics once you have placed your order and we can take care of that for you.

How often do you restock? Can I be notified when something comes back in stock?

We restock regularly on many items. If you are wondering about when a particular item is coming back in stock, please do the following ::

Within the body of the email, list the items EXACTLY as they appear on the website, as well as the size. For example if you wanted a restock on the Damn Gina Men's black tee in a large, you would write 'Damn Gina (Men's Black Tee) ­ Size Large'. You can list as many items as you'd like. When an item you listed comes back in stock, we will shoot you an email letting you know. If you asked for something and never got a response, then most likely that item has not been restocked yet and/or may never be restocked.

How do I make a return / exchange?

Returns and exchanges are accepted on product in new and unworn condition (with the exception of undergarments and leggings, which are non-returnable), and within 10 days of date of receipt of goods. Please direct these shipments to the following address ::

Please include with your return a note with specifics of the request, i.e. the new style/size/color you are requesting, or if it is a return for a refund. Be sure to include a copy of your invoice and/or your order number for proper processing. Shipping charges are non­refundable. Buyer pays shipping cost for returns to our facility.

Can I return / exchange something I purchased on the Adapt Webstore at an Adapt Physical Store?

Generally you cannot do this since our retail stores use different payment methods than our website. However in some cases it is possible, and it is generally always possible to exchange for a like item such as a different size of the same garment. If you are planning to do so we advise calling ahead to the store to confirm the transaction is allowable, and that they have the particular exchange you want in stock.

Why was my order cancelled?

Adapt is run by human beings, and as such we make (plenty of) mistakes. Sometimes the website allows you to order items that are in fact out of stock in our warehouse. If an order is placed and one or more items are found to be out of stock, you will receive a refund for the purchase price of those items with a note detailing the situation. In many cases we will first try to work with you to find an alternate item that may fit your needs that we do have in stock. At the end of the day, we want you to be happy and satisfied with what you are getting.

When does a refund show up on my credit card?

As soon as we process a refund, the transaction is considered complete on our end and it is up to the credit card company / payment processor to return the funds/credit your account. If you have received confirmation that you have been refunded by Adapt but do not see it in your credit card transaction history, we recommend confirming with your credit card company or allowing a couple days for it to fully process.

Does Adapt give out Sale / Promo Codes?

If you have been following us at all over the past few years, you would probably know that we VERY RARELY release promotional codes of any kind. So, our best answer would be that if you do see one, it’s probably a great idea to take advantage of it while it lasts.

Something on the Website is not working properly. What can I do?

Please email us HERE with the issue and we will attempt to resolve it as soon as possible.

Is there a physical Adapt Store?

Yes, we have 3 Adapt retail locations, Adapt SF (our flagship), Adapt Santa Clara (9 minutes from the new 49ers stadium), as well as our San Leandro Pop-Up (call for hours as it is appointment only).

Do Adapt Stores sell everything that is available on the Website?

The stores sell many items on the website, but not all. Generally all Headwear and Accessory items are in the stores, however due to the limited space, and the fact that we now have well over 5000 SKUs, not all clothing items / styles are sold at all stores. We recommend calling ahead to the location you would like to visit to see if they have what you are looking for.

Can I put items on hold to pick up later at a store?

Yes, any item can be put on hold and held for up to 48 hours. Just call the store and ask them to hold the particular item for you.

The Adapt Employee that helped me was Awesome! The Adapt Employee that helped me was a Jerk! I want that Adapt Employee’s phone number…

Hopefully we only hear from you regarding the first sentence. And the last sentence...well, we probably can’t help you there either. But hey, we are human too. Please EMAIL US any feedback, both positive and negative, to us so we can know your thoughts on how we are doing. We like to send this along to our staff to let them know when they are doing a great job, and also so we can always work on improving in the areas that we need to. You will also notice that our store staff wears name badges so that you can get to know us. Feel free to chop it up next time you come in, don’t be shy!

How can I apply to work at an Adapt Store?

How do I get my photo featured on the Santa Clara Wall of Game?

We display/post images that we feel are a great representation of our customers and brand. The best way to do this is Hashtag us and / or EMAIL US us your amazing photos. Sweet­talking our store employees can’t hurt either...

Do Adapt stores ever have sales??

We very rarely have sales. If you see a sale, it’s like seeing a Mermaid, or a....Merman. When we do, we generally notify customers via our Mailing List / Social Media of the specifics. We also sometimes have an annual ‘cleaning’ sale. So take advantage if you see one.

What is Adapt’s Return Policy?

Items can be returned within 10 days of purchase, in New and Unworn Condition. Please note that all Undergarments and Leggings are non-returnable once tried on.

Does Adapt offer a Military Discount in-store?

We do not offer a blanket Military Discount, however a couple items do have a 10% discount with a valid ID. Ask your sales associate if they carry any items with such a discount.

 

The Brand

When did Adapt start? Who is the owner?

Adapt was conceived in the back of a Physics class way back in the year 2000. 3 years later, Adapt was born in a dark, cramped UC Davis dorm room, the son of a single Father. He raised it as best he could, and over the years Adapt grew. Now Adapt is a lanky, awkward teen who chain-smokes and steals cars. Or something like that.

Does Adapt have a Motto or Mission Statement?

Yes, and you can read about it here.

Does Adapt only want people from the Bay Area wearing their clothes?

Some people actually believe this, so we would like to clarify :: We actually sell just as many if not more garments outside of the Bay Area as within it. We have our roots in the Bay, and take great pride in where we are from, and this is apparent in many of our products. We welcome any and all individuals who have an appreciation for our graphics and the things we produce, and without you we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

How can I stock Adapt in my store?

Adapt is carried in over 50 retailers worldwide and we would love to add you to the roster if your retail store or webstore is a good fit for the brand. EMAIL US for information on how to become an official retailer. Please note that we ONLY accept new stores on a wholesale basis. If this is not your purchasing model, it is probably not a good fit.

I represent an Athlete / Musician / Clothing Brand / Celebrity and would like to work with Adapt. What do I do?

Does Adapt contribute to any charitable causes / organizations?

Yes! We have a section of the webstore dedicated to these projects called Adap+ (AdaptPlus) in which we sell products that contribute 100% of the net proceeds of the purchase price towards a specific cause. You can view all causes and Adap+ products currently available for purchase here.

What does it mean that Adap+ products contribute '100% of the net proceeds'?

100% of the net proceeds means that we do not make a profit of any kind on these items, we either break even or more often times lose a little bit of money (but it's worth it). For example, if you purchase an Adap+ tee for $28, we will subtract our cost to produce the good, as well as to process and ship it at our warehouse from the $28. The rest of the sales price that would normally be profit is donated to the organization / charity that we are working with on that particular item. This results in a substantial donation amount, and to this day we are unaware of other brands in our market that have similar charitable programs.

How can I have my cause / organization considered for the Adap+ program?

We are open to hearing about any fundraising opportunities that you may have. We don't have the bandwidth to support every cause, but will try as best we can to help. To let us know about your cause or organization, please email us HERE.

Is there an Adapt Email List?

Yes, we send emails every couple weeks or so with new releases, promotions, and other information. Feel free to EMAIL US with the Subject Line :: ADAPT MAILING LIST and we will add your email for future mailings.

I love this particular Adapt graphic but I want it on a Women’s Tank / Men’s Hoody / Kid’s Tee shirt which I don’t see available. How do I let Adapt know?

We often get these types of requests—please EMAIL US if you want something in particular, as we do listen to requests and try to accommodate customers as much as we can. Often times a customer suggestion leads to a new product.

I am really good at this thing that I do. Can Adapt sponsor me?

Sponsorships are rare, however we have done them in the past. If you think you fit the bill, feel free to EMAIL US with the Subject Line :: ADAPT SPONSORSHIP :: John Smith (Your Name), and let us know why you are so awesome.

Can Adapt print me custom tees for my event / organization?

In some cases we can help you create branded tees for your event--feel free to EMAIL US with your request. If you are just looking for a printing resource however, we suggest contacting a local screenprinter in your area and they can help you with what you need.

Can Adapt help me with my Fundraiser / Non-Profit project?

We are always open to these opportunities, particularly with Schools and various Non-Profits. We do get many such requests and assist when we can, so please do not feel bad if we cannot accommodate your particular request or cause. For any such inquiries, please EMAIL US here.

Can Adapt feature me / my image on their website or social media?

We will sometimes post photos we think are great, or are a great representation of our customers and brand. The best way to do this is Hashtag us and / or EMAIL US your amazing photos. We know great stuff when we see it.

I got blocked / banned from the Adapt Instagram / Facebook / etc. account. Why?

Remember the old Youtube comment sections? Well, Adapt social media is not a bathroom wall. Racist, sexist, or particularly derogatory comments towards any individuals can get you banned. Cuz yea, ain’t nobody got time for that. We all make mistakes however — if you would like to regain access you can EMAIL US your request to do so.

I found this other brand that is copying Adapt!

There are a handful of brands within the bay area and elsewhere that sell products that 'copy Adapt's style'. We are generally aware of these entities, and we thank you for informing us of such brands / products. We appreciate you standing up for authenticity and originality in the sea of product choices available to you.

You are welcome to EMAIL US any concepts or ideas you may have, and we we will definitely take a look. Please note that if you do not receive a response don't feel bad, as we do receive many such submissions and are unable to respond to all of them. However, if we really feel you have something we will contact you and let you know! If we use your idea you can expect some goodies, including your finished product as a thank you.

I’m sexy and I know it. How can I model for Adapt?

If you are interested in modeling for Adapt, please note that you MUST be local to the Bay Area, and be willing to come to our SF facilities on a regular basis and on short notice.
